On Thursday, September 7, 2023, the Hawaiʻi Island Association UCC's Committee on Ministry voted unanimously to authorize Keoki Kiwaha as the licensed minister to Pukaʻana Congregational Church. This vote came immediately following a meeting of the COM with Keoki. His credentialing was effective as of Friday, September 8.
The church had voted to call him to this role at its Annual Meeting on July 16, 2023.
On his first Sunday (9/10) as pastor, Kahu Keoki officially addressed the Congregation to offer his thanks for their continued support and commitment to this shared journey. He described the past two months as a "whirlwind" since returning from the General Synod where he had decided to come home and pursue ordination and pastoral ministry in the United Church of Christ. He added that promised to do his best in service of the congregation; and looked forward to walking with the congregation "...into the future God has envisioned for us."
